The aircraft from Kathmandu that carried 72 people crashed shortly before landing in Pokhara, a major tourist destination in the Himalayan nation. At least 68 of the passengers are dead.
When rescue teams arrived at the scene, the wreckage was on fire, and rescue workers were trying to put out the blaze. In recent years, Nepal’s air industry started booming, carrying goods and people between hard-to-reach areas, including transporting foreign trekkers and climbers.
However, it has received backlash for poor safety due to staff having insufficient training and aircraft not being properly maintained.
Our condolences go to the families who lost their loved ones.
