Former IDEA Teacher Karen Bereniz Sosa Arrested and Charged For Having Sex With A Student

A former IDEA public school teacher got arrested after being accused of having sex with a student.

The former teacher got identified as 27-year-old Karen Bereniz Sosa, according to a spokesperson for Mission Police Department.

The investigation of Karen Bereniz Sosa allegedly having sex with a student started on January 11th, when a detective spoke to a male student about his relationship with Sosa.

Detective Art Flores said, “He admitted to having sexual contact, sexual intercourse, with the teacher.” Flores also revealed the student and Karen Bereniz Sosa engaged in sexual activity at a park during winter break.

The former teacher sent nude photos and communicated with the student through Instagram DM’s, according to the detective.

Sosa is currently in the Hidalgo County jail on a $50,000 bond, which got set by municipal Judge Jonathan Wehrmeister. She got charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony in Texas.

If Sosa gets convicted, she could face two to twenty years in state prison.
