The UFC plans to book Jon Jones for a fight at UFC 285 on March 5th.
If Francis Ngannou is ready, that’s the fight they’ll make. It looks like the return of Jon Jones is finally upon us. It’s long overdue. It’ll be three years since his last fight in February.
Jones last competed against Dominick Reyes for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, which he won by a unanimous decision at UFC 247. Many people questioned the judge’s decision because they thought Reyes won the bout.
The greatest Light Heavyweight champion decided to move up and will likely have ring rust, but the Heavyweight champion will have ring rust after suffering a knee injury.
Francis Ngannou knocked out Stipe Miocic to obtain the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 260 and won his first title defense against his former training partner Ciryl Gane at UFC 260. Before entering the fight, Ngannou suffered a torn MCL and damaged ACL during sparring sessions.
Curtis Blaydes is apparently in place to face Jones if Ngannou can’t make it. Blaydes is coming off a three-fight win streak. Blades has three defeats in his career but has only lost to Derrick Lewis and Francis Ngannou twice.
Hopefully, the Ngannou fight can happen. That’s been the fight to make all along. Do you think we’ll see it?
