We first see Grace Duah as Shan Barnes, the alt-black girl best friend to Whitney Peak’s character Zoya Lott in season one of Gossip Girl. It was announced back in October on Deadline that Duah would be upgraded to a series regular in Season Two of the series that premiered on December 1st on HBO Max.
Gossip Girl is a reboot of the 2007 original CW series of the same name that follows the new generation of privileged teens on the Upper East Side. In the last season, the story led us to New Year’s in Hudson, where Monet (Savannah Smith) realized she wanted Queen Bee status, Julian (Jordan Alexander) planned to expose Gossip Girl, and Aki, Audrey, and Max finally decided to give their three-way relationship a try.
Season Two promises higher stakes, meaner characters, and glimpses at the return of OG Gossip Girl characters (Michelle Trachtenberg as Georgina Sparks makes an appearance in the trailer). In our interview with Where Is The Buzz, Duah assures viewers that this season offers a deeper dive into the background of all the characters including her character Shan.
