Panamanian influencer and creator Gracie Bon said on X that Rockstar Games wanted to use her in-game by scanning her body for the new Grand Theft Auto VI. X users said this news fits the trend of fake direct messages on the social media network.
Bon uploaded a screenshot she claims she received on Instagram, saying it was a milestone in representing curvy women in GTA6.
The direct message allegedly said: “Hey Gracie! We’ve been tracking your growth and viral moments over the past few years. We would love to have your unique body inside the world of GTA6, and we want to discuss bringing your likeness in via a 3D body scan. Let us know if you’d be open to a quick chat about a potential Collab!”
In response to it, Gracie also posted her own reaction saying: “omg, this can’t be happening of course i would love to! i’ve always tried to make girls feel good in their bodies even if they are different and being inside of GTA6 it’s gonna be the ultimate representation of gorditas!”
A community note was added to the post. It stated: “This is not a DM from Rockstar as Rockstar won’t contact via DM’s. This is a fake DM Trend editing a photo that can be easily done.” The note contained links to Reddit where people discuss the trend of faking direct messages from the company.
Moreover, Bon herself is an influencer and often posts on body positivity on social media. She posted a video in which she calls a 3D body scan professional. It was made with motion-capture technology and a tape measure.
“my body scan, can’t wait for GTA 6 on November 19th. thank you @rockstargames for making one of my biggest dreams come true. this is for all the gorditas in the world, we are finally being included in the BIGGEST game ever,” Bon wrote and ended the post with a prayer hands emoji.
Rockstar Games did not comment on Bon’s posts yet.
