Brytavious Chambers, a Grammy-nominated producer known professionally as Tay Keith, who became a pivotal figure of late 2010s hip-hop sounds, died in his Nashville apartment, officials said Thursday.
He was 29.
Metro Nashville Police confirmed to Nashville station WSMV that they responded to a welfare check at his Martin Street apartment, where they found Chambers deceased. The death is not believed to be a homicide, the department told the station, and a cause of death was not released.
Hailing from Memphis, Tay Keith became one of the past decade’s most significant producers, shaping hit records from artists like Drake, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, Megan Thee Stallion, Moneybagg Yo, Sexyy Red, and BlocBoy JB. Chart-toppers like Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode,” Drake’s “Nonstop,” and BlocBoy JB’s “Look Alive” featured his signature booming drums and production style, which propelled them to the top of the Billboard charts.
Tributes to his life and career began pouring in from across the hip-hop world after word of his death emerged.
This is a developing story.

I make over $220 an hour while working from home and looking after my two kids. I was hesitant at first, but when my friend, who earns more than $35,000 a month, encouraged me to try it, I went for it. It’s been amazing! I have more time and money than I ever thought possible. Want to see how?
