They’ve lost the parentheses. They’ve lost the “G.” Now they’re dropping jaws.
Internationally revered K-pop sensation i-dle, once (G)I-DLE, officially changed the world with the drop of their blistering hot new mini-album [We are]. The six-song set hit today with a bang at the forefront of the fearless, confident, and genre-pushing spotlight single “Good Thing,” which hit with a jaw-dropping music video already well on its way to going viral.
The era of i-dle 2.0 is here, and it’s not quiet.
Rebirth: The Name Change That Shattered Gender Norms
Seven years of sound experimentation, visual innovation, and global success on, the group unveiled a hushed but earth-shattering change this month: the removal of the “G” from their name and the parentheses that have enclosed it. It is not a gimmick; it is a manifesto.
“The ‘G’ being absent means that gender no longer limits us, while the removal of the parentheses announces limitless future.”
i-dle, with a lineup currently including MIYEON, MINNIE, SOYEON, YUQI and SHUHUA, no longer simply marks a new beginning but, in fact the whole book-that is, as if a New Rules for Rewriting the Old Game.
[We are]: A Mini Album With Maximal Impact
The new album [We are] is their debut under their new name and a reflection of their continued evolution. It’s confident, ballsy, and filled with attitude, a sonic declaration of independence from the industry rules they never had much desire to observe.
Full Tracklist:
- Good Thing
- Girlfriend
- Love Tease
- Chain
- Unstoppable
- If You Want
Every track is saturated with the band’s distinctive blend of genre-defying, ballsy womanhood, and razor-sharp self-production: a combination that has rendered them one of the most respected and admired K-pop groups of their generation.
The group’s lead single, “Good Thing,” gets underway with lively production, precise choreography, and a bold visual affirmation that announces the group’s new personality. The music video, available everywhere now, is a no-holds-barred party of power, glamour, and rebellion.

Self-Made, Self-Written, and Self-Defined
While the majority of K-pop groups have built their kingdoms playing the game and not necessarily having the rulebook, i-dle has been doing the opposite. Since their explosive debut in 2018 with LATATA, the group has taken creative control into their own hands. Group member SOYEON, who is widely known as a creative genius, has served as the group’s lead producer, and members YUQI and MINNIE have also contributed their writing and composing abilities to projects.
With numerous #1 singles in South Korea, seven Top 10 Billboard World Albums, and more than 6.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify, their discography enjoys a huge following. The band has accumulated more than 6 billion YouTube views and millions of fans across social media from Seoul to Sydney to San Francisco.
Their 2023 full-length album, I Feel, topped the charts. Their follow-up LP, 2, shattered expectations, selling over one million copies in under 48 hours, making them the fifth highest-selling K-pop girl group in history upon its initial release.
The World Tour That Shook the Globe
Not only is i-dle streaming dominating group charting, but the group is dominating with brute force. Their I-dol World Tour sold out venues in Asia, Australia, and North America in cities such as Seoul, Hong Kong, Sydney, and a host of US cities. K-pop fans – a.k.a. Neverland- have been among the most die-hard about their K-pop idols, showing unrelenting support and cultural influence.
As reported by USA Today, i-dle is defined by “unique tracks and concepts that underscore the multi-faceted nature of each member,” and GRAMMY.com stated, “Breaking stereotypes has always been i-dle’s main drive.”
A New Chapter on Their Own Terms
With [We are], i-dle released not only a mini-album but a manifesto of war against the limits. It’s not a comeback; it’s a rebirth.
They proved once again in this, just how they’re not part of the K-pop landscape – they are architects reshaping its future.
We are streaming everywhere now.
More music. More visuals. More power.
More from i-dle very soon.
