Paige Spiranac, a former professional golfer and social media influencer, came to the aid of golfers who unknowingly violate rules and regulations, saying that even seasoned golfers may break some rules, but not necessarily because they were trying to cheat.
“I think if we’ve learned anything today, it is that no matter how long you’ve played the game, you can still unintentionally break a rule in golf, and it doesn’t mean you were trying to cheat….just saying….for no reason at all…,” said Spiranac on X.
These statements were made regarding Bryson DeChambeau, who received a two-shot penalty during the 2026 Open Championship when he stepped on the tall grass in the rough during a practice swing, thus improving his lie in violation of Rule 8.1.

I make over $220 an hour while working from home and looking after my two kids. I was hesitant at first, but when my friend, who earns more than $35,000 a month, encouraged me to try it, I went for it. It’s been amazing! I have more time and money than I ever thought possible. Want to see how?
