A trailer for Other Mommy has been released, indicating that the upcoming horror movie, directed by James Wan and produced by Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, is set to arrive in theatres on October 9th.
The plot of the movie follows Bela, a young girl, who gets mixed up with a mysterious force in her house that resembles her mother. Rob Savage, who made the films Host and The Boogeyman, directs Other Mommy.
Jessica Chastain, who has an Academy Award under her belt, stars in the movie playing two characters: Bela’s mom and the ghostly figure known as Other Mommy, which represents the entity. Chastain’s other recent works include It Chapter Two and The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
Jay Duplass, star of Transparent and Industry, plays Bela’s dad, Daddo. In contrast, Arabella Olivia Clark, seen in The Housemaid and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, plays Bela.
Some of the others in the cast are Dichen Lachman (Severance), Arian Moayed (Succession) and Karen Allen, known for Indiana Jones.
Written by Nathan Elston, a WGA Award winner and Succession screenwriter, the film’s script is based on the novel Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman, author of Bird Box.
James Wan produces the movie through Blumhouse Atomic Monster, which is also responsible for Backrooms and Obsession. Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Rob Savage, Josh Malerman, and Ryan Lewis are executive producers of the film.
Other Mommy is set to release in theatres exclusively on October 9th.
