The drama that is Jay-Z’s ongoing rape case took a dramatic turn this week, as the attorney for the woman accusing the music mogul of raping her when she was 13 at an after-party for the VMAs in the 2000s gained a small victory.
Documents obtained by The Neighborhood Talk detail that Judge Torees has denied a motion by Jay-Z’s attorney Alex Spirio to dismiss the amended complaint naming the rapper as a defendant. As such, the lawsuit may continue without needing the plaintiff-identified only as “Jane Doe”-to show her face immediately.
The judge also took up Spirio’s motion that the plaintiff disclose her identity to proceed with the matter. Citing concerns for the well-being of the plaintiff, Judge Torees said she is “particularly vulnerable to the possible harms” from her exposure, noting that she remains depressed, suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and a seizure disorder related to the stress of her purported sexual assault.
