KAROL G to Perform at AMAs, Receive Honor Not Given Since Whitney Houston

CBS and Dick Clark Productions have announced that international music sensation KAROL G will be honored with the prestigious International Artist Award of Excellence and perform during the 52nd Annual American Music Awards. The awards show will broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Monday, May 25.

This award, second only to Whitney Houston, recognizes an artist whose music and cultural influence extend to audiences all over the world. Some previous winners include Aerosmith, the Bee Gees, Beyoncé, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, and Rod Stewart.

KAROL G is the only woman to win the Grammy for Best Música Urbana Album. She made history in April as the first Latina woman to headline Coachella. In 2023, her album “Mañana Será Bonito” became the first Spanish-language album by a woman to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The subsequent tour, “Mañana Será Bonito Tour,” grossed over 2.3 million tickets across 62 shows and earned over $300 million.

Demand for KAROL G’s live shows continues to grow. Currently touring to support her upcoming 2025 album “Tropicoqueta,” the “Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour” has sold over 2 million tickets in just four days. The tour has expanded from its initial run of 39 dates to 63 dates globally, including many cities that have added additional performances. “Tropicoqueta” has earned KAROL G three nominations this year for Best Latin Album.

Hosted by Queen Latifah, the 52nd AMAs will broadcast live coast-to-coast on the CBS Television Network and streaming live on Paramount+, starting at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. This marks the largest venue in the history of the AMAs.

Additional performers include Hootie & the Blowfish, KATSEYE, Keith Urban, Maluma, Riley Green, SOMBR, Teddy Swims, Teyana Taylor, and Twenty One Pilots, among others to be announced. Tickets can be purchased through AXS.
