Tove Lo, the renowned Swedish pop artist, is releasing her sixth studio album named “ESTRUS.” In addition, she released a single and embarked on a world tour covering both North America and Europe. She will commence her tour on September 15th and continue playing gigs until November 19th.
The album title refers to the reproductive cycle of female mammals. “Estrus is an animal in heat. It’s primal. It’s my mind and my body wanting different things, wanting everything,” she said in a statement. “There’s no good advice on this album, just a lot of feelings, no solutions.”
Her latest album includes only one lead single, “I’m your girl right?,” which is already available on various streaming platforms. The accompanying music video, directed by Nogari, was recorded in a former monastery located near São Paulo, Brazil. The clip features around 70 dancers. “Nogari and his team did a fantastic job on this video,” commented Tove Lo. They shot this video in Brazil, and it is stunning, “the best crew I’ve ever worked with.”
According to Tove Lo, this record was written while staying at the small Swedish fishing village that served as a summer house when she was a kid. For the same reason, she also included it on her previous album “Dirt Femme”. The memories she had were those associated with growing up, depression, eating disorders, break-ups, family dramas, and losses.
Among the other collaborators who helped her create this album were her regular partner Ludvig Söderberg, as well as Elvira Anderfjärd and Luka Kloser. “STROMAE also features on this album.” Moreover, Tove Lo specified that she had been strongly inspired by The Knife, Robyn, and Swedish indie dance music.
Tove Lo announced that her tour, called the “ESTRUS Tour,” will include six concerts in North America and several gigs in the UK and Europe, where she expects to deliver her greatest shows ever. The Australian artist named Mallrat will serve as the opening act in North America. Cobrah will play as the opener during the show in New York.
“Finally! The ESTRUS Tour begins with six North America release shows in September, followed by my biggest UK/EU tour to date this November. I’m gonna make this very special,” the singer added. “Many more shows to be announced. We’re just getting started. Can’t wait to be absolutely unhinged together again.”
The tickets for Tove Lo’s concerts go on sale for the general public on May 20th, 2023, at 10 a.m. (local time). A pre-sale is available from May 18th, 2023, at 9 a.m. (local time) for those using an American Express card.
