Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is pushing back on President Donald Trump after he said he does not think about Americans’ financial situation in the context of his ongoing Iran negotiations.
Trump made the remarks during a press conference on the White House lawn, where he was asked about rising inflation and gas prices tied to the conflict. The president said he focuses solely on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and does not consider domestic economic pressures or “anybody” when conducting those talks.
Meidas Touch reporter Pablo Manriquez asked Ocasio-Cortez for her reaction.
“I’m sure he’s very focused on his own financial situation and how he’s going to enrich himself off of all of these kind of extortionary deals,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “So I don’t see how he has time to think about the financial prospects of the American working class when he’s spending all this time thinking about how to enrich himself.”
