A’ja Wilson, the reigning WNBA MVP, made history on Sunday, becoming the first player ever to score 1,000 points in a single season. The Las Vegas Aces star hit the milestone with a pull-up jumper with two minutes left in their 84-71 win over the Connecticut Sun.

The Aces, already locked into the playoffs, are now one game ahead of Seattle for the No. 4 seed and home-court advantage.

Wilson’s dominance was on full display throughout the game, especially in the third quarter when she scored 14 points with four rebounds and two blocks. The Aces outscored the Sun 20-10 in the period, taking a commanding 71-51 lead heading into the fourth.

Marina Mabrey led the Sun with 18 points, while Brionna Jones added 17 points and nine rebounds.

Wilson’s achievement is a testament to her incredible talent and hard work. She’s been one of the league’s top players for years, and this historic milestone further cements her status as the best women’s basketball player in the world.

The Aces are now looking to finish the regular season strong and make a deep playoff run. With Wilson leading the way, they’re a dangerous team to face.
