A woman who gained fame in the TV reality show “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” called Betty Idol was arrested on August 13th following an extensive investigation of real estate fraud and money laundering allegations, the police reported.
Salomes Jackson, 40, who performs under the name Betty Idol, is accused of transferring $178,786.65 via a money laundering scheme using counterfeit identities and a fictitious shell corporation, the police said.
The investigation began on September 8, 2025, when two victims reported to police that they lost almost $200,000 in a fraudulent land transaction near a mobile home park in Orange City. According to the victims, they worked with a real estate agent and an escrow officer they believed represented a legitimate company.
Further investigation revealed the connection between the escrow company and an address in Philadelphia where a woman lived who was not associated with the case and claimed that she had been a victim of identity theft as well.
After that, detectives discovered a suspicious bank account related to the fraud scheme and obtained a seizure warrant before issuing a subpoena concerning the deposit on Oct. 6, 2025. It turned out that Jackson deposited a check at the ATM, where she could be identified by her unique tattoos, such as a red heart under her eye.
Jackson is currently charged with fraud totaling more than $100,000, grand theft, organized fraud totaling less than $50,000, and unlawful use of another person’s identity totaling more than $50,000, the police added.
It was not clear yet whether Jackson has hired a lawyer to comment for her.
