A triple threat.

Not only does Madeleine Coghlan have a gift for working in front of the camera, but also behind the lens as well. This past month, Coghlan starred in the film “We Burn Like This” that premiered at the Deauville Film Festival. In the film, Coghlan captures audiences as the role of 22-year-old ‘Rae’, a descendent of holocaust survivors. The film made its European debut and Coghlan received praise from critics and loved ones on her powerful contribution to the film. “We Burn Like This” has also been accepted to the San Diego International Film Festival, São Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil, Heartland International Film Festival in Indianapolis, and the Buffalo International Film Festival.

Coghlan has continuously made her presence and talent within the industry known as she can be seen starring in the ABC series “The Rookie” and as lead in the Facebook Watch series “Mira Mira”. An exclusive that Coghlan shared in preparation for the Facebook Watch series is that she actually was isolated in solitary within her living corridors during to COVID-19 restrictions. However, she truly felt that it was the perfect opportunity for her to study and embody the role of the two different personalities and inner struggles she would have to portray. Coghlan’s attitude never seems to sway from positivity and how there is always a way to make a beneficial situation stem from what can seem like the impossible.

As Coghlan continues to make her directorial debut, she can be seen as an upcoming and promising writer who has already starred in three of her own short films. Her latest short film works “Oh, Sorry” and “Writer’s Block” are presently on the festival circuit and made her directorial debut in “Defibrillator”. How does Coghlan pull inspiration while writing and brainstorming ideas for her short film projects? By pulling from inner concepts and places that could be deemed “unusual” or even supernatural topics; such as UFO’s and other supernatural inspirations that she’s often interested in. Coghlan’s true message as an actor, writer, and director is to stay true to who you are; regardless of any conflicting interests you may have with another because it’s truly the essence of your craft. As well as not being afraid to voice that you don’t know something or haven’t seen a piece of work, even if you feel intimidated by directors or other actors that have. Staying true to who you are is one of the biggest takeaways that Coghlan has held close to her heart within the industry.

We can’t wait to see what Coghlan has up next. Whether that’s starring in front of the lens or pulling the strings behind the scenes, her talent and passion for her craft continues to be extremely prominent.
