Emily Cocea must have heard this criticism too many times not to respond.
In one TikTok video, a University of Michigan law student going by “hotblockchain” gives a direct answer to critics asking why she sells adult content.
“One of the most common comments I get as a Bop is like, you trade away your dignity for this? And I don’t feel that way,” Cocea states. “I personally find my job pretty empowering.”
“But even if that was the case, my answer still would have been yes,” she continued. “Yes, I traded my dignity to have financial security. To go to law school and undergrad debt-free. To not have to worry about whether or not the job I wanted to do would make money. To take my family around the world on vacations.”
“Yes. To make sure that I could send my children to private colleges. To make sure that my children would never go hungry. Yes, I made that deal,” she adds.
Then she turns to her critics with another question:
“I don’t understand what the harm in making that deal is. I’m pretty sure that’s the deal that you make when you agree to work for giant conglomerates to do nothing but drain our planet of its resources and harm the poor,” she said. “So, yeah, we’re all little monkeys on the wheel, all right.”

Emily’s career as an online adult content creator began because of financial problems. When she was 15 years old, her father suddenly passed away, and the family had to face very tough times. She realized that to become a lawyer, she needed to pay for her own education, so she started earning money from her accounts when she turned 18 and was in her senior year of high school. Her earnings in the first year were estimated to be about $250,000.
According to People Magazine, she earns around $1.3 million annually for posting and selling adult content online. According to Above the Law, this amount exceeds what many graduates of top law schools earn at large law firms. According to Cocea, she has never posted nude photos, and she has almost 3 million followers on Instagram and TikTok.
Beyond her earning potential, Emily Cocea’s academic success has attracted significant attention. She got a bachelor’s degree in decision science from Carnegie Mellon University with minors in business administration and public policy. While studying, she paid about $90,000 in tuition out of pocket each year to attend the Pittsburgh-based institution. She scored 172 on the LSAT, placing her in the 99th percentile.
Emily Cocea graduated from Carnegie Mellon in May 2025 and joined the University of Michigan in the autumn. Her X profile indicates that she expects to graduate from law school in 2028.
Cocea’s future plans can partly explain her attitude toward the financial stability of her future job. After graduating, she intends to work as a public defender to help poor clients. When asked how she plans to join Big Law despite her online presence, she replies: “Sister, that is not the goal.”
