Iman Vellani is interested in writing a Namor the Sub-Mariner comic, as mentioned in her statements to League of Comic Geeks.
Namor, played by Iman Vellani in Marvel comics, has stated her reasons for loving the character.
“I’ve always loved Namor,” Vellani said. “He’s pretty unlikable, but despite his ego the size of the ocean, he’s not cruel for cruelty’s sake. He’s got a very complicated relationship to his own power, both as king & as an antihero & that instantly makes him someone I root for.”
She further went on to relate the story of Namor to that of Kamala Khan.
“I also love that he exists between worlds,” Vellani said. “He’s half human, half Atlantean & never fully belongs to either, just like Kamala, who is negotiating multiple identities rather than comfortably inhabiting one.”
Vellani did not say anything about her actual intention to write a comic for Namor.
