Kylie Brewer, a TikToker, stated in her most recent video post that white individuals who decide to collaborate with individuals of other races are frequently referred to as”race traitors.” The name should be celebrated rather than feared, according to her.
The name has, on previous occasions, been associated with individuals from the abolitionist movement and those who lost their lives fighting for civil rights.
“Because once you become too associated with black people, with people of color, with Jewish people, then you become part of that group in these people’s eyes,” Brewer said. “You’re essentially, according to them, giving up the ‘white card’ in order to side with these people.”
Brewer said the term is used as a tool of intimidation, meant to threaten people and make them “feel small.” But she argued the opposite is true.
“That’s one of the best things that you can be, is somebody who doesn’t support white people and only white people,” she said. “You support everybody and the advancement of equality.”
Brewer called on people to speak out against racism when they witness it and cautioned against assuming a friend is not racist “even when they have allegations against them.” She urged people to work toward building communities that include “every single person, regardless of race or class.”
“That is going to be how America functions in the future,” Brewer said. “That’s why the elites are clinging to power so much, the white people in general, because they know that they are not the future. We are the future.”
