Netflix Acquires US And Remaining International Rights On Anna Kendrick Directorial Debut ‘Woman of the Hour’ Following TIFF World Premiere

Academy Award® nominee Anna Kendrick stars as Sheryl in the Woman of the Hour. Kendrick also serves as the project’s producer and makes her directorial debut with this film.

The film is based on the true story of Cheryl Bradshaw and Rodney Alcala, a story that is stranger than fiction. Bradshaw, who was a participant in the popular 70s TV matchmaking show The Dating Game, selected bachelor number three, Rodney Alcala, who was handsome and had a sense of humor. However, beneath Alcala’s charming exterior lurked a horrifying truth: he was a psychopathic serial killer.

Daniel Zovatto, known for his roles in “It Follows,” “Don’t Breathe,” “Lady Bird,” “Penny Dreadful,” and “Station Eleven,” portrays Rodney Alcala in the film. The additional cast includes Kathryn Gallagher, who has been part of productions like “Jagged Little Pill,” “Spring Awakening,” and HBO Max’s “Gossip Girl.” Nicolette Robinson, known for her work in “One Night in Miami” and “The Affair,” also joins the cast. Kelley Jakle, Autumn Best, Pete Holmes, and Tony Hale, are known for their roles in various projects such as the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, “42,” “4400,” “CollegeHumor Originals,” “Crashing,” “How We Roll,” “Veep,” and “Arrested Development,” are also part of the cast.

The thriller is based on Ian McDonald’s script, which was included in The Black List.

Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee, who has worked on projects such as the It franchise, Doctor Sleep, The Grudge franchise, The Ring franchise, The Departed, and Watcher, serves as a Producer. Miri Yoon, who has worked on Weapons, The Mother, Don’t Worry Darling, and Amazon Studios’ anthology series Them, also serves as a Producer. Additionally, BoulderLight’s JD Lifshitz and Raphael Margueles, known for their work on The Wrath of Becky, Barbarian, Gone in the Night, and The Vigil, are also involved as Producers.

The list of executive producers includes Stuart Ford, Zach Garrett, Miguel A. Palos, Jr., Anna Kendrick, Ian McDonald, Joe Penna, Paul Barbeau, Sean Patrick O’Reilly, Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, Andrew Deane, and Stephen Crawford.

The territories that are included are the United States, France, Italy, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City, Andorra, Benelux (Aruba, Belgium, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, Saba, Curaçao, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Sint Maartin), Japan, Macau, South Korea, Switzerland, Hungary, Hong Kong, Romania, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, the West Indies, as well as their territories and possessions.
