Nicki Minaj Releases “Last Time I Saw You,” First Single From Pink Friday 2

Nicki Minaj has released her heartfelt new song “Last Time I Saw You,” which will appear on her upcoming album “Pink Friday 2.”

The latest song from Minaj, “Last Time That I Saw You,” deviates significantly from her norm. This vulnerable, emotional song expresses regret over losing touch with a person. On the song, Nicki hardly raps and she never gets too specific. It is actually a shimmering pop song with a ton of singing. The production is rich and layered. Although it’s not exactly Nicki’s most thrilling song, it does demonstrate her range.

The Trinidadian artist announced in June that she would soon release her fifth studio album, “Pink Friday 2,” the follow-up to her Grammy-nominated debut album “Pink Friday.” This announcement confirmed that the album would be released in November.

‘Pink Friday 2’ comes 13 years after the original, which debuted at Number One on the Billboard album charts and is now three-time platinum, spawning hit singles such as ‘Super Bass,’ ‘Moment 4 Life,’ ‘Your Love,’ and others.

Minaj is having another successful year. Nicki Minaj’s Aqua-sampling Ice Spice collaboration ‘Barbie World’ was included on the Barbie soundtrack last month. The song was so popular over the summer that it was included on the TikTok Songs of the Summer lists in the United Kingdom.

She also appeared on Young Thug’s most recent album, “Business Is Business,” which he released while incarcerated and fighting a R.I.C.O. indictment. She also appeared on the remixes for Sexyy Red’s “Pound Town” and Ice Spice’s “Princess Diana.”

Drake confirmed in Detroit, while on the ‘It’s All A Blur’ tour, that he and Minaj, his ex-labelmate and good friend, are working on a song after not working together in “a really long time.”

Minaj was also made a playable character in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 last month. In the game, you can hear the rapper say some amusing taunts that are based on some of her biggest hits.

Nicki Minaj’s most recent album, Queen, was released more than five years ago, but she has remained very much present since then. Nicki has pushed three different singles to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the last few years, including last year’s solo track “Super Freaky Girl.”
