Nyjah Huston claims he suffered a fractured skull from a skateboarding accident on New Year’s Day.
The 31-year-old Olympic bronze medalist and 15-time X Games medalist shared the video on his Instagram account on January 5th.
Huston also uploaded a few pictures on Instagram showing himself in the hospital with a black eye.
“A harsh reminder how death defying skating massive rails can be. Fractured skull, fractured eye socket. Taking it one day at a time. I hope yall had a better new years then me. We live to fight another day,” Huston wrote on Instagram.
Many people showed their support and brought up the importance of wearing a helmet when skating. One person said, “Man, that is tough to watch. My prayers are out to Nyjah for a speedy recovery. I love street skating, but I hate the helmet stigma.” One man thought that Huston was a legend of the early skate scene and posted: ‘Sending prayers.’ The third posting was: ‘I still can’t get over the slam on Nyjah Huston. Lucky to have a fractured skull at least.’
Huston, a highly decorated street skater, has stated that he will get back in shape for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
