A Pakistani TikTok content creator with 1 million+ followers was shot dead in her car in a city near Islamabad. Several people have been taken into custody in connection with the murder, which also severely injured her teenage sister.
Shamsu Bibi, 28, known as Ayesha Gilamana on social media, was killed in the evening of Aug. 14. Two men on a motorcycle appeared next to her car near a gas station on Grand Trunk Road and opened fire, shooting her in the neck. Her car lost control and collided with another vehicle, causing serious injuries to her 15-year-old sister, who was in the car with her.
According to the complaint by her father, Fazal Sahibzada, his daughter received a call from a man called Kashif, also Kashi, a few minutes before the shooting and was told to go outside immediately. She then went out in a car with her sister and brother, Naimatullah.
As stated by Sahibzada, he learned about the murder quickly and identified his daughter’s corpse at the mortuary of a hospital in Taxila. He added that his son witnessed the crime and can recognize the two perpetrators who were about 30 to 35 years old.
According to the complaint, Bibi had sold a piece of land to two men named Kausar and Javed, and they threatened her after she demanded money. He mentioned those men and Kashif in the complaint, which he filed at the Taxila police station on charges of murder, attempted murder, and abetment. Those allegations haven’t been confirmed yet, and no one has been convicted.
A special police unit from Rawalpindi arrested three men in Taxila, Attock, and some regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during an operation. They said the men were relatives of the suspects and had communicated with them. The police also conducted a geofencing at the scene of the crime and found that the phones of the suspects showed their locations in Murree during the murder. Therefore, they are trying to identify who owned those devices. The houses of the suspects have been sealed after the murder, as stated by the police.
Later, the police said that four people are in custody, including two facilitators, who allegedly helped the main suspect escape arrest, according to ARY News. Investigators said they found the suspects using Safe City surveillance cameras and other footage showing two helmeted men on a motorcycle without a license plate.
Bibi gained 1.3 million followers on TikTok within approximately four years and about 176,000 subscribers on YouTube. After the murder, her TikTok account became private.
She was from the Lower Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and moved to Taxila seven or eight months before her murder. Other content creators paid tribute to her online in the days that followed.
Her death attracted more attention to the murders of women with large online followings in Pakistan, where TikTok is extremely popular. For instance, in June 2025, 17-year-old Sana Yousaf was shot at her house in Islamabad, and a 22-year-old man who tried to contact her on social media was arrested.
The investigation is ongoing.
