Irish model and broadcaster Vogue Williams says she has repeatedly been asked to leave supermarkets abroad for shopping in nothing but a bikini, according to comments Williams made while discussing the recent heat wave in Ireland on her podcast.
Williams, 40, who is pregnant, made the comments on “Vogue & Amber,” the podcast she co-hosts with her sister, Amber Wilson, according to the show’s episode notes on Global Player and Apple Podcasts. The pair were talking about people wandering around in swimwear during the recent spell of hot weather in Ireland when Williams recalled being confronted by staff in stores in Spain and the Caribbean island of St. Barts, according to the podcast episode.
Williams said that if she were on a private island, she would consider skipping the bikini altogether, joking that staff would likely say nothing in that setting, according to her comments on the show. By contrast, she said she has been bluntly told to leave when she has tried to shop in swimwear while on vacation abroad, according to Williams.
It is not the first time Williams has spoken publicly about run-ins with shop staff over swimwear. She was confronted by an employee at a supermarket near St. Barts who told her to cover up, and she later watched another woman get ejected from the same store for wearing a swimsuit, according to comments Williams made on the podcast “My Therapist Ghosted Me” that were reported by Crime World and VIP Magazine.
Williams and Wilson host “Vogue & Amber” twice weekly, covering family life, pop culture and listener dilemmas alongside their own travel and lifestyle updates, according to the show’s official description. Williams announced her pregnancy on the podcast earlier this year, according to episode notes from the show.
