Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Hatboro Police Chief James E. Gardner announce that 55-year-old Rita Bellew of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, got charged via summons with Ethnic Intimidation and Harassment following a disturbance, which occurred on February 23, 2023, at Amy’s Family Pizzeria in the 300 block of South York Road in Hatboro.
Hatboro Police got dispatched to the restaurant on February 23, 2023, at approximately 5:55 P.M. after they received a disturbance call.
Police de-escalated the disturbance involving Bellew and learned that an employee video-recorded Bellew before police arrival.
The viral video on social media shows Bellew berating the staff at Amy’s Family Pizzeria with a profane, racially fueled tirade.
Bellew got triggered, at least in part, by a Spanish broadcast that got displayed on a television in the restaurant.
Charges of Ethnic Intimidation and Harassment were filed today at the office of Magisterial District Judge Paul N. Leo, and Bellew will be required to answer for those charges.
Assistant District Attorney Tanner Beck will be handling the case, and Bellew’s preliminary hearing is set to be scheduled by the court; at a later date.

USA has no official language nor enforces one. Being bilingual is a feat not all people can achieve. Getting upset cos someone enjoys watching tv or music with different language is stupid. I used to enjoy music performed by US, British, Ireland, Australian bands while I had no idea what they were singing about, I spoke Spanish only when I was a teenager.
