Surprise, surprise: chart-topping pop star Sabrina Carpenter, 25, and her Oscar-nominated boyfriend, Barry Keoghan, 32, are reportedly hitting pause on their romance. According to a source speaking with People magazine, the couple has decided to step back from their relationship to keep focusing on their burgeoning careers.

“They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break,” the source revealed.

The couple, who first sparked dating rumors last December after meeting at Paris Fashion Week, have become a fan-favorite pairing. Their flirtation even made its way into Carpenter’s music, with fans speculating that the lyric “Who’s the cute boy with the white jacket and the thick accent?” in her hit song Bed Chem was a nod to Keoghan’s Irish charm.

The Met Gala debut as a couple in 2024 solidified them as one of Hollywood’s most stylish duos. And ever since, their romance has played out on social media, with the two being papped on outings and sharing sweet moments of mutual support. Keoghan even co-starred in Carpenter’s music video for Please Please Please, further sealing the creative and romantic deal.

And even as their separation might sadden them, it seems like the pair wants to pursue their careers individually now. While Carpenter had been going all guns with her just-released album, Keoghan was sizzling up on screens with his consecutive successes in films.

Despite the news, however, many are hopeful this is just a pit stop. When two stars shine this brightly, after all, there is always a chance they could find their way back to one another.
