Disney has officially announced plans for a live-action adaptation of its 2010 animated classic, “Tangled.” The project will be directed by Michael Gracey, renowned for his work on “The Greatest Showman,” with a script penned by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, known for “Do Revenge” and “Thor: Love and Thunder.”

While the official cast has yet to be confirmed, fans and industry insiders are actively speculating about who will portray the film’s iconic characters. Sabrina Carpenter, a singer and actress who was celebrated for her roles in “Girl Meets World” and “Sofia the First,” has emerged as a leading contender for the role of Rapunzel. Mandy Moore, who voiced Rapunzel in the original animated film, expressed her support for Carpenter, stating, “I could see her with 50 feet of hair or something. She looks like a Disney princess in real life.”

Carpenter herself has shown enthusiasm for the role, notably dressing up as Rapunzel for Halloween in 2023, which further fueled fan support for her casting.

Regarding the character of Flynn Rider, Zachary Levi, the original voice actor, suggested Timothée Chalamet as a suitable choice, acknowledging that he might be “a little old” to reprise the role himself. Levi also entertained the idea of a cameo alongside Moore as Rapunzel’s parents in the live-action adaptation.

As of now, Disney has not released an official cast list or a projected release date for the live-action “Tangled.” However, with the creative team taking shape and fan discussions intensifying, further announcements are anticipated in the coming months.
