In 1995, footage from Entertainment Tonight featuring actress Sandra Bullock going online to purchase movie tickets surfaced again through Hollywood movie enthusiast Todd Spence. The video surfaced again on January 2nd.

This video shows Bullock at a computer with some executives as they used the first MovieLink website (sponsored by Disney and MGM) to purchase two tickets to The Net at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. The total ticket price came to $17.70.

According to Spence, this was a true milestone for 1995: Bullock buying online movie tickets via a Pizza Hut demo site launched to promote The Net. This was featured in the Entertainment Tonight segment.

There are over 5 million views of the post. There are several comments about 1990s fashion, Bullock’s popularity in the mid-1990s, and the hope to “simplify the internet again.”

Some individuals like the early internet pop culture. A user posted: “I love the ‘the internet is still new, and we don’t understand it’ media—like when Carrie thought they could see her on AOL when she was online.”

Some are based on Bullock’s star quality and legacy. One said, “She’s really that impressive,” and another stated, “Virginia’s best export since tobacco.” Another added, “Sandra Bullock is the icon of the silver screen and will be known for iconic work. Forever cherished, pure Sandy.”

However, some posts conclude with a remark about the film itself. For example, one commentator said, “That movie was scary; they wipe out her life in about 24 hours, 30 years ago.” Another said, “Thirty years later, and it’s still hard to do anything online.”

Some of the other responses are clearly admiring in nature. One of them is, “1995 Sandra Bullock, if you could give me one chance,” while another is, “She was so hot. Sorry, but it has to be said.”

Winkler-directed The Net is an internet thriller that portrays threats such as web hacking and identity stealing. It grossed around 103 million dollars globally and influenced internet stories in the 1990s. The film’s 31st anniversary is to be celebrated in July.
