Sincerely Wilson has been impressing for a number of years with his smooth and soulful brand of R&B. A seasoned backing vocalist who has sung backup for the likes of Lianne La Havas and toured with Jessie J, his talent is undeniable, and he’s a much-welcomed addition to the music scene. His talents have also garnered him a sizeable social media following, with almost 100k followers on TikTok alone.
After a handful of previous releases, the rising London talent has just returned with his new single, “June”. This is Sincerely Wilson’s first release since 2020, and the wait has been worthwhile. Immediately upon listening to the track, his vocal prowess is very apparent. Emotive and filled with soft textures, his vocal performance complements the subtle and stripped-back production to create a piece of music that is simply spellbinding and leaves a lasting impression. Here’s hoping he has much more music in store for 2023 because a voice like his deserves to be heard by the masses.
Speaking further on the concept behind the track, Sincerely Wilson says, “‘June’ represents the light at the end of the tunnel. I wrote the lyrics when the number of Covid cases in London were consistently breaking previous records and all mass gatherings were cancelled (along with my work for the entire year). It was a dark time for me (and most people), and London felt similar – a ghost town. It felt like we were stuck in a cycle of a never-ending winter. When I first heard the guitar loop in the chorus, I fell in love with the chords – they reminded me of summer. This is where the ‘June’ metaphor was born as a representation of light, hope and happiness.”
