After the video of a woman abusing her friend’s dog went viral, she received a lot of backlash on social media.
Ny’Ashia Harris, the dog owner, took to Instagram yesterday to show the injuries her dog, Benji, sustained at the hands of a friend.
“I allowed what I thought was a friend of many years to stay in my home while visiting from out of state,” she wrote in her Instagram caption. “I came home from work yesterday and noticed my dog was not acting like himself. As I examined him, I found a missing nail and bruising on his inner thigh.”
Harris went on to describe what happened next after she checked the cameras inside her apartment, as well as the specific injuries the dog is suffering from.
“I then checked my cameras and found her THROWING AND CHOKING MY FIVE POUND ONE YEAR OLD DOG!!!!!” Harris says.
“He is now at the hospital pussing up at the eyes, severely bruised from his back, thigh, and tail, there is blood in his pee, and he is limp,” she continues.
She concludes the caption by telling others not to trust anyone with their loved ones and asking people to spread awareness about the situation.
“Please do not trust NOBODY with your animals or kids,” she said. I completely devastated and heart broken for my baby. Please repost this and spread awareness about dog abuse.“
The person who caused Benji’s injuries was quickly identified after Harris tagged her in the Instagram post, even though she quickly deactivated her account. According to several members of the community, the woman in the video appears to be Syniah Percell.
Ny’Ashia Harris gave an update on Benji today. “They called this morning and said there wasn’t much they could do for Benji; only time will tell if he improves,” she said. He is literally fighting for his life.”
“The proper authorities have been notified, and she will be handled accordingly,” Harris added.
Harris has also set up a Go Fund Me page for anyone who wishes to contribute to Benji’s medical expenses.
