Taraji P. Henson Tears Up While Testifying To Congress About Mental Health Challenges In Black Community

Taraji P. Henson testified today at 9:30AM in front of the newly formed CBC Taskforce on Black Youth Suicide and Mental Health.

In the black community we usually turn towards our churches and pastors when it comes to mental health or we don’t deal with it at all. We usually get told to get mental toughness or forget about it when we are going through something in life.

“We, in the African American community, we don’t deal with mental health issues. We don’t even talk about it. We’ve been taught to pray our problems away.”
