West Palm Beach locals are shocked and in mourning after a tragic course of events that resulted in a fatal gunshot. The incident, which happened on Wednesday night, saw the terrible shooting death of a young woman named Kelvi McCray by her ex-boyfriend as she was on a FaceTime connection with three other people.
According to the West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD), the terrifying events began when one of the witnesses reported seeing McCray being shot in the back and head during the FaceTime connection, as stated in the probable cause affidavit. The witness later successfully identified the suspect, 19-year-old Keisean Shaw, from a photo lineup.
Shaw, who was charged with first-degree murder with a firearm, was unable to appear in court on Thursday because he was hospitalized. Officers spotted him in the same apartment where McCray was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The terrible occurrence was discovered following a 911 call reporting a shooting on West 13th Street, near Gaines Park, off North Australian Avenue. Responding officers quickly located the suspect and transferred the victim to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to resuscitate her, McCray was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.
The police report contained alarming details regarding the victim’s relationship with the suspect. Shaw, McCray’s estranged lover, was still living with her at the time of the event. Detectives discovered that Keisean Shaw had not taken the split well and had allegedly threatened Kelvi McCray with a gun just days prior.

Furthermore, the affidavit revealed that Shaw had been issued a warrant for aggravated assault with a handgun and domestic battery by strangling, highlighting the rising pattern of violence leading up to the fatal shooting.
