The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. This was the 70th annual Met Ball and here is some of the best and worst looks of tonight.
BEST LOOKS:
The Goddess from Barbados, Rihanna, rocked a pearl and crystal-embellished Maison Margiela gown that featured an overskirt that cut open to reveal a mini skirt, which she accessorized with a matching jacket and mitre style hat.
The Goddess co-chaired Monday night’s event alongside Anna Winter, Amal Clooney and Donatella Versace.
Nicki Minaj came through as the “BAD GUY” at the Met Gala. Nicki decide to raise some hell at the 2018 Met Gala. She came as the devil. Nicki wore bright red Oscar de la Renta gown. The Met Gala theme this year was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. You can’t have heaven without hell. Nicki sure did bring the fire with her look last night. She also announced her album titled “Queen” will drop on June 15th.
Chadwick Boseman, who stars as King T’Challa in Marvel’s blockbuster hit Black Panther, commanded the red carpet like true royalty at Monday night’s Met Gala in New York. He wore a Versace outfit stuck closely to the theme and was decorated with ornate golden crosses. He had an intricately embellished ivory cape over a matching three-piece suit, finishing the look with glittering gold shoes.
Blake Lively paid homage to the 2018 Met Gala theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” wearing a custom Versace gown featuring regal embroidery, a bejeweled bodice and a full skirt.
She accessorized with over $2 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry including a custom-made halo with over 100 carats of nude champagne diamonds, a pair of 30-carat Colombian emerald and diamond earrings, an armful of gold bracelets, three diamond and ruby rings, and of course, her personal oval Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring.
Cardi B channelled her inner Beyonce for her first Met Gala tonight, she wore an ornate gilded headpiece and a gem-encrusted Moschino by Jeremy Scott gown. She slayed the Met Gala carpet with her extremely adorable baby bump.
Last but not least the Grammy-nominated singer, whose usual style can range from casual athleisure wear, to baggy, oversized pants with bikini tops, to strapless ruffle dresses, wore a dress straight-up lifted from Glinda the Good Witch’s closet. SZA’s Versace gown features a low-cut bodice embroidered with jewels and pearls, a cotton candy-pink, layered tulle skirt, thigh-high boots and a stunning celestial gold headpiece.

WORST LOOKS:
Selena Gomez channeled The Bible’s Queen Esther in a gauzy, layered dress designed by Coach, but it was her beauty look that attracted the most attention on social media last. Selena Gomez dress was beautiful but she might have overdone it with the bronzer, spray tan or possibly both.
Even though we don’t want too but we have to get on Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott. Jenner wore a head-turning strapless black Alexander Wang gown with a stomach cutout, mirrored sunglasses and Chopard diamond earrings featuring two 5-carat cushion-cut diamonds set in platinum. We have no idea what Travis Scott wore but we hope he never wears it again.
After this look Frances McDormand she no longer be invited back to the Met Gala. I don’t know who give the go ahead for her to leave the house like that. She wore bullshit aka a custom Valentino gown.
Daniel Kaluuya was still stuck in sunken place during the Met Gala. His Met Gala grey suit seemed like something that would be more for a 9 to 5 desk job or a school dance event like homecoming or tolo.
I don’t want to hate on the Kardashian family but Kendall Jenner was no where to be found like Demar Derozan last night. I like Kendall Jenner too, she’s my favorite one in the family but last night she didn’t look up to par. Kendall hit the red carpet wearing an awful white jumpsuit. The look was off-the-shoulder but had full sleeves and came complete with flared bottoms. Her makeup look good though and Kenny is still beautiful though.
It’s sad that we have to put another one of The Weeknd ex’s on this list but Bella baby what are you wearing baby girl. This is really sad because I like Bella but GiGi should have said something to her little sister. Bella wore a custom Chrome Hearts x Gareth Pugh outfit.
Last but not least the worst dress person the entire night was Shailene Woodley. She had on Shriek armor look alike dress. The Big Little Lies actress channeled her inner Joan of Arc as she arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, in a custom made Ralph Lauren dress. Just in case Ralph Lauren reads this, whoever you hired to design and make Shailene Woodley dress needs to be let go today.
