On February 7, 2025, the African American Male Wellness Agency (AAMWA) will launch its signature event series with a groundbreaking HIV Awareness Event, aimed at educating, empowering, and supporting the African American community in addressing the urgent health challenges posed by HIV.
The event will be held at The Kee, located at 225 Neilston St, Columbus, OH 43215, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Admission is free and open to all, reflecting AAMWA’s dedication to fostering community-wide dialogue and participation.
Founded by public health advocates John and Pamela Gregory, AAMWA has been at the forefront of addressing health disparities that disproportionately affect Black men and women. With nearly four decades of experience, the organization has made it its mission to tackle critical health issues through education, advocacy, and community engagement.
“AAMWA has always prioritized creating awareness around health disparities in Black communities, and HIV awareness is a key part of that mission,” said John Gregory, Co-Founder of AAMWA. “We are bringing together health professionals, advocates, and the community to discuss actionable steps we can take to reduce the stigma around HIV, promote health education, and ultimately improve the quality of life for those affected by the disease.”
What to Expect
The HIV Awareness Event promises to be both informative and engaging. Attendees will benefit from:
- Expert-Led Discussions: Panels covering HIV prevention, treatment, and the importance of early detection.
- Free HIV Testing: On-site testing to encourage proactive health management.
- Myth-Busting Conversations: Debunking misconceptions about HIV to reduce stigma.
- Resources and Advocacy: Access to the latest information on advancements in HIV care.
