The satirical body-horror “The Substance,” directed by Coralie Fargeat, is to get a U.S. re-release in theaters on January 17, 2025. “The Substance” has already taken its time conquering awards circuits these past 2024-2025 awarding seasons. During the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, Demi Moore secured Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, whereas, for the film it attained nominations like Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Director: Coralie Fargeat, Best Supporting Actress: Margaret Qualley, and Best Screenplay.

The success is not only with the Golden Globes. During the Toronto International Film Festival 2024, the film won the People’s Choice Award-Midnight Madness while getting several nominations from the European Film Awards for Best Cinematography given to Benjamin Kra\run and Best Visual Effects.

Despite this critical success, “The Substance” suffered a major snub when director Coralie Fargeat was not nominated for the DGA Awards. Yet according to several industry analysts, that does not hurt the prospects of the film in the current awards season, including the upcoming nominations at the Academy Awards.
