An animal caretaker at a Florida-based wildlife sanctuary has been creating quite a stir after appearing in a video in which she feeds a Bengal tiger through a fence.
Kristen, one of the animal keepers at Care Foundation, appeared to feed about 7 pounds of chicken and pork to a Bengal tiger nicknamed Danarus through the fence. According to her, their relationship disappears when food is involved, since the tiger’s survival instincts come into play. At times like this, even Kristen herself might look like prey to the tiger.
While feeding Danarus, the tiger growls and spits at Kristen, forcing her to withdraw her hand as a means of keeping her away from danger. Interestingly, the animal’s eye color changes to green when she gets excited about the food. Throughout the feeding process, the fence acts as a crucial safety precaution for the lady.
As expected, the video has attracted many comments online about the incident.
One viewer expressed concern, saying that her hand should not have gone that far within the enclosure.
Other viewers were less worried and even accused the handler of being reckless: “This tiger is gonna kill her when it gets a chance, and everyone will be shocked by it.”
Meanwhile, another critic said, “She was not getting the hint as the tiger viciously growled at her. I’m sure that tiger was saying, STFU & let me eat in peace. Lik,e girl.”
The online debate over the incident continues, with some viewers commending Kristen’s familiarity and experience handling tigers.
