There’s a new series in town, and Prime Video has all the details. On Call is the platform’s latest drama, kicking off the new year with intensity and intrigue.
Set in Long Beach, California, On Call dives into the lives of police officers as they navigate both their professional duties and personal challenges. The show embraces modern technology, incorporating body cam footage, cell phone recordings, and security video as integral elements of the storytelling. At its core, the series follows the journey of a rookie and a veteran officer, offering a gripping and immersive look at their lives both on and off the job.
Created by the powerhouse team of Dick Wolf, Elliot Wolf, and Tim Walsh, On Call is poised to join the ranks of iconic Wolf Entertainment series like Law & Order and Chicago P.D.
I had the privilege of sitting down with cast members Troian Bellisario, Brandon Larracuente, Lori Loughlin, and Eriq La Salle, who also serves as an executive producer. Loughlin and La Salle take on the roles of no-nonsense Lieutenant and Sergeant, mentoring Bellisario and Larracuente’s characters.
What stood out to me was not only the unique camera perspectives but also the fresh challenges each actor embraced in their roles, showcasing a departure from their previous performances. The show doesn’t feel like a traditional TV drama—it feels like an authentic, firsthand experience of life on the force.
On Call premieres on Prime Video on January 9, 2025.
