Ukraine’s President Zelensky Says Israel-Hamas War Taking Focus Away From Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed concern on Saturday (Nov 4) that the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in West Asia has shifted the “focus” away from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

“Of course, it’s clear that the war in the Middle East, this conflict, is taking away the focus,” Zelensky said during a press conference with EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen.

Zelensky’s remarks come as the United States House of Representatives approved a Republican-led bill providing $14.3 billion in aid to Israel on Thursday (Nov 2).

The move contradicted US President Joe Biden’s request for additional funds for Ukraine and other pressing issues. Ukrainian troops are currently exhausted, and there is uncertainty about the future of US military assistance.
