A woman has been charged with stabbing her husband and their two young children early Tuesday morning at their residence in the suburbs of Denton County, north of Fort Worth, Texas.

Holly Leeann Flores, 37, has been arrested on two counts of attempted capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the Northlake Police Department said. The man, 34, and their daughter, 3 years old, as well as their son, 10 months old, were taken to the hospital. No injuries have been deemed life-threatening.

The husband made a 911 call around 4:20 a.m., reporting that his wife had a knife and had stabbed him at their home on the 1200 block of Daylily Drive, according to the police.

Northlake Police Chief Robert Crawford told reporters he listened to the 911 calls. He said that the man tried to reach his children, who were in another room, but “she was actively trying to stab him, so he had to retreat outside.”

The officers arrived shortly after the call and detained Flores. While conducting a protective sweep of the house, they found the girl and the boy with stab wounds on their chests, police said. The man had been stabbed in the head.

Both children were taken to a Fort Worth hospital and were under observation there. “I believe they are going to be OK,” the chief said.

Flores, who had a small cut, was taken to a Denton hospital and received medical care before being booked into jail, according to police. Crawford said that she didn’t say much to the officers and just stared at them.

According to arrest records, the attempted capital murder counts involve a victim younger than 10, People magazine reported. Attempt to commit a capital offense is a felony of the first degree under Texas law, punishable by up to life in prison.

It was not immediately clear if Flores had an attorney that could comment on her behalf.

Police said they had responded to their home several times since March, mostly for welfare checks. Crawford did not specify the details of these calls but said that they were from inside the house, not from neighbors.

No motive has been revealed yet, and the investigation is still ongoing.

The neighbors told NBC 5 Dallas–Fort Worth that they knew Flores from the neighborhood events and that she had a balloon business. One neighbor told the station that the previous police calls raised questions about whether intervention could have prevented the attack.

Northlake, a town in Denton County, Texas, has a population of about 12,000 people. U.S. Census Bureau estimates show the town’s population has more than doubled since the 2020 census.
