White Woman Says Racial Dating Preferences Are “One of the Biggest Signs of Racial Fetishization”

Kylie Brewer claims that people with a dating preference for particular races are operating according to racist stereotypes and urges her viewers to exercise caution if anyone admits to having one.

In the TikTok video “Most dating ‘preferences’ are just racist stereotypes,” Kylie Brewer stated that assumptions about the behavior of individuals from particular races influence how people define their dating preferences.

“They have ideas in their head of the way that certain races behave when it comes to dating, and that informs their, quote, ‘preferences’,” Brewer said.

According to Brewer, she criticizes a specific group of people.

“I’m talking specifically about white people who openly declare that they have a preference for people of color of specific races,” she explained. “Like maybe they like Latina women or Black men. Because when you hear people talk about this, they’ll be like, ‘Oh, I just love Latinas. They’re so feisty.'”

Those statements usually come together with preconceived ideas of how individuals of particular races look and behave.

“And there’s other preconceived notions about the way that they look, the way that they act, and like the quote, ‘toxic Latina.’ And you can say this for pretty much any race,” she said.

In most cases, preferences are motivated by racism, according to Brewer.

“When people have a preference, a lot of the ideas of what underlies that is literally just racism,” Brewer noted. “It’s a stereotype about that race. That’s why I always tell people to be very wary of someone who openly declares that they have a racial preference.”

However, she made an exception for minorities.

“Unless it’s, you know, someone who is of a minority group saying they prefer to date members of the same race for safety reasons. That’s very different from someone who is a majority group, like white people in the United States, declaring that they only will date, you know, Asian women or specific demographics of people.”

And she concluded the video with a warning to her followers.

“So beware because in my opinion, this is one of the biggest signs of racial fetishization, and it’s not cool, and it’s very dehumanizing,” Brewer said.

Finally, she called on her viewers to share their opinions and then left the following message: “Let me know your thoughts. Okay, bye!”
