TikTok user Kylie Brewer is being highlighted for her post in which she argues that the racist behavior of white children should be met with punishment right away, since otherwise Black and brown children might get hurt.
Kylie Brewer uploaded a TikTok video under the title “Why white kids NEED to be punished for racism. ASAP.”
According to her, the punishment should be immediate and harsh, because “there are tons of black children who haven’t even made it to adulthood because of racist white people’s behavior. There are people like Trayvon Martin or Emmett Till that have been murdered.”
She criticized adults for making excuses for the behavior of the youth.
“Everyone’s always saying, ‘oh my god, they’re just teens, like, they don’t mean it.’ But those teens could also physically harm other people. They could commit acts of violence against other people. Because if they start to see black and brown children as subhuman, that’s what they’re gonna do,” Brewer said.
She explained the process that she finds happening in today’s world.
“That leads to name-calling and bullying, until eventually assault and potentially life-threatening injuries from being beaten,” Brewer said. “There is no age at which we have to protect white children’s feelings like white children should be protected.”
According to her, she formed that opinion based on her upbringing and education.
“I myself was not taught about racism at all. I didn’t fully learn the extent to which the system was bad until I was in college. And that is not okay. That is not acceptable,” she said. “Luckily, I was able to deconstruct because again, I was raised in a MAGA household. I’m 23 years old.”
She concluded her video with the following statement: “But a lot of white children just become even more racist as they get older. So that’s why it’s so important to cut it literally out as soon as possible.”
