TikTok influencer Kylie Brewer made a video where she denounced racism and bigotry held by white Americans. The person pointed out that such an attitude is not only damaging for those who hold such beliefs but for everyone else as well.
“I’m starting to understand why people give up being activists because some of you guys are f***ing stupid,” Brewer said. “You’re telling me that you want to continue to cling to your bigotry and your racism when it is actively not only making your life worse, but everyone else’s.”
She claimed the refusal to expand social programs stemmed from a desire to deny others those benefits.
“You would rather suffer,” Brewer added. “You would rather not have anyone get free health care so that Black and brown people don’t get free health care,” she said. “You would rather actively shoot yourself in the foot and hurt yourself every single day than have people that you see as lesser than you have access to the same opportunities.”
And she noted that this approach had existed for centuries.
“It has been like this throughout time,” she continued. “Like, I’m so sick of white people who cling to their racism like it’s part of their identity. Stop. Wake up. Okay, and stop blaming people who have less power than you for social issues.”
She addressed the rhetoric that is used towards transgender people as well.
“Stop attacking minorities like trans people. What is your f***ing problem?” she continued. “You really think that the source of all evil in this world is someone who wants to change their gender identity? No. Do you really think it’s the Black child trying to go to school? No.”
Finally, she explained how the discussion affected her.
“Like, now I understand why so many people get jaded, and they give up because this s*** is exhausting,” she concluded.
