Why We Shouldn’t Give Up On Kanye West Yet?

Kanye West, is arguably one of the greatest artist of our lifetime. He brought us classics on classics with his music. He brought us legendary moments like when he said “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.” For some reason I feel like he will put this all together. I can see what he’s trying to do but his presentation was wrong.

When he showed support for Donald Trump people were confused and really asking why he would support that man. I personally disagree with him supporting Trump. However, since Trump became President I feel like he has brought the “minorities” aka the majorities together. He has also brought the racist people out of hiding. He has proven the United States of America isn’t so United. Donald Trump hasn’t made America great again because it has never been great. However, he has brought out the truth in America. Now it’s time to conversate. Let’s talk.

Kanye West saying slavery was a choice on TMZ LIVE was one of the most ignorant things to say about our ancestors. Our ancestors were born into slavery unlike most of us today. Slaves didn’t get the freedom of thought that we have today. Slaves didn’t get the education we have today. Slavery ended in 1865. It hasn’t been 200 years and we have black people making millions. Imagine what our ancestors would do today. They didn’t have the same privileges or opportunities as we do now. We might have a real life Wakanda right now.

Every time Kanye West says something crazy I try to look at it from his perspective. When said, “slavery was a choice” I thought about one of the last scenes in Black Panther. When Killmonger says, “Bury me in the ocean with my ancestors who jumped from ships, cause they knew death was better than bondage.” Looking from Kanye perspective I think he was trying to articulate that if you know you’re going to be in bondage your whole life and didn’t try to do something about it you chose to be a slave. Still slavery isn’t like a job you hate. When you were enslaved you couldn’t just say I’m leaving. If you left the plantation you were going to get killed. If you leave your job today you can go get another one. I honestly thought that was Kanye’s perspective. It’s still wrong but it’s logical to understand. He didn’t come off sympathetic about it either not did he give any explanation on why thought slavery was a choice. When you have a platform like Kanye West have, you have to provide an explanation and facts when you say something like THIS because people are listening.
