Mom Asks the Internet if She’s “Being Overdramatic” After Her Baby Daddy Picks Being A Groomsman Over Daughters’s First Birthday

A mother’s TikTok post on her child’s dad acting as a groomsman at her friend’s wedding during her daughter’s first birthday is going viral.

The video clip is from the (@domenica.calarco) TikTok account and is named, “The father of my child decided to spend the day being a groomsman for a ‘friend’ instead of being with his daughter on her first birthday.”

“The father of my child decided to be a groomsman for a friend rather than spend the day with his daughter on her first birthday,” she explains in the video. “He’s decided to choose friends over his firstborn daughter and her first birthday. And I just cannot get my head around it. I am so disappointed.”

“I, I’m disappointed for my daughter, but also for what the day could have been. I had envisioned, you know, this beautiful day, taking her either to the zoo or the aquarium or doing something together as a family, even though we aren’t together. That is what co-parenting is. It’s creating memories for our child even though we aren’t together,” she says.

The event wasn’t a surprise to her.

“He’s known for months that this wedding had been on,” she says. “He agreed to being a groomsman months ago, all well knowing that this was her first birthday for months and months and months. Uh, and then come this week, I was supposed to bring her to his house as soon as she woke up this morning instead of coming here and being with his child. I pushed back on that, and I said, no, it’s her birthday. I’m not putting her in and out of a car seat.”

She requests her viewers to air their opinions.

“My question to the internet is, am I being overdramatic about this and should I not be disappointed, or is this actually as bad as what it feels to me? Because I’m, I’m really disappointed. I, I, I just don’t understand it,” she says.

“And all I can think about is, imagine if that was me, if I was the one that accepted to be a bridesmaid in a wedding on my daughter’s first birthday. I would never hear the end of it. I just, it’s ridiculous,” she continues.

She finishes by asking for feedback from other parents.

“Anyway, I wanna hear from men and women, okay? I wanna hear from other dads. I wanna hear from men and what you guys think and what you would say to a guy. Well, knowing he’s here and not with his daughter, like, I just, I just, I don’t understand what is going through this guy’s head,” she says.
