The mother of the rapper who was killed in a Chicago drill shooting has threatened anyone who is making fun of her son’s death on the internet in two Facebook posts, saying they should wait until someone else becomes the object of such jokes.
Machetta Dudley introduced herself as the mother of Mikquale T. Cooper, a 22-year-old rapper who died after being fatally shot at a gas station on the South Side of Chicago at around 4 AM on Sunday. The identity of the victim was established via autopsy in the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, which also determined the cause of death to be a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds.
According to the police, the male victim was sitting in the driver’s seat of a car that was parked in the 4200 block of South Wentworth Avenue in the Fuller Park neighborhood. After two cars stopped nearby, multiple shooters opened fire, hitting the rapper in his chest and shoulder, as a result of which he died at the spot. Nobody has been arrested so far.
“Y’all didn’t know the boy I knew”
The mother of the deceased posted a few hours after the murder, starting with the criticism of the websites, which were spreading the information regarding the incident.
“MY BABY WAS MY BABY.. THESE BLOGS WAS PUSHING 90% OF FALSE SHT… YEAH MY BABY TROLLED SO I EXPECTED THE TROLLS.. AND IT’S STILL LONG LIVE MY BROTHER WE KILLED YO BTCH A** BROTHER… THEM LIL INBOXES AIN’T MOVING ME…HELL MY BABY TROLLED YOU MFS DEAD PEOPLE’S..F*CK EM OBD ..,” she wrote.
Then Dudley addressed the people who reached out to console her, dividing them into two categories.
“AND THANK YOU TO HIS FANS WHO GENUINELY SHOWING ME LOVE AND TO THOSE WHO DON’T KNOW ME OR MY SON LET ALONE WHO HE IS.. THE MESSAGES I RECEIVED THANK YOU .. Y’ALL DIDN’T KNOW THE BOY I KNEW…,” she wrote.
The biggest part of the post focused on proving Dudley’s point about the wrongness of the narrative about where the family lived.
“NO I’M NOT FROM INDIANA NO HE WASN’T FROM NO INDIANA..WE STOPPING THAT FALSE NARRATIVE.. BABY WE WAS 7706 7708 SOUTH GREENWOOD BABIES!! !! !! WE HAD BILLY’S GYROS, A MCDONALD’S ON COTTAGE… WHEN WE HAD ELLIS FOODS…B*TCH MY ADDRESS HAD ELLIS ON IT…,” she wrote.
These streets are situated in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, several miles away from the gas station, where the rapper was killed.
In the rest of the post, Dudley tried to prove that her son’s private life was quite different from the public image he created.
“MY SON WAS LOVING CARING MADE SURE HIS SIBLINGS KNEW HE LOVED THEM. HE MADE SURE HIS FAMILY KNEW HE LOVED THEM.. HE MADE SURE I KNEW HE LOVED ME.. HE MADE SURE HIS GMA/MA KNEW HE LOVED HER !! !! !!,” she wrote.
Moreover, she emphasized that the person they knew was quite different from the character he represented in his music.
“WHEN WE HAD FAMILY TIME IT WAS NO Q50..WE WAS WITH QUALE C HE KNEW HOW I WAS AND HE KNOW WHAT I WAS CAPABLE OF…,” she wrote.
The mother admitted that her son finished high school early, despite some decisions she did not like.
“MY SON WAS RAISED RIGHT NO MATTER THE BACKGROUND ME OR HIS FAMILY HAD… HE GRADUATED EARLY WITH HELLA CREDITS … HE WAS VERY SMART.. SOME CHOICES I DIDN’T APPROVE OF YET THAT’S MY BABY AND I’M RIDING RIGHT OR WRONG…,” she wrote.
Dudley added a few words to her previous post, which worried commentators.
“I MEANT EVERYTHING I SAID IN THAT POST… I’LL DIE FOR MINES.. I’LL KILL FOR THEM. SMILE IN MY MUGSHOT…YES I’M THE MOTHER THAT STOOD ON BUSINESS I CHANGED FOR MY KID’S NOW I’M BACK … YOU WOKE UP THE DEMON SLAYER MOTHER!! !! !! IDGAF WHO DON’T LIKE IT… I WANT WHAT I WANT.. AND OBD Y’ALL GONE FEEL A MOTHER WRATH….,” she wrote.
Dudley promised to keep her son’s memory alive.
“I’M GONE KEEP YOUR NAME ALIVE… LONG LIVE MY BABY MY BOO BOO MY QUALE…,” she wrote.
Finally, she ended her speech by telling her opponents she would stop using the platform and threatening them with retaliation.
“I’M LOGGING OFF THIS SHT…. LET THE TROLLS TROLL… THAT SHT AIN’T MOVING A MF SOUL.. JUST KNOW WHAT MAKES YOU LAUGH GONE MAKE YO FAMILY CRY TAKE THIS POST AND RUN WITH IT…,” she wrote.
In the end, she commented on the fundraising campaign that usually follows tragic events like this, saying her family doesn’t need any money.
“THAT’S MY BABY 3 DAYS LABOR.. HE AIN’T NEVER WANT FOR SHT HE CAME FROM MONEY BTCH.. NOBODY NEED A MF GOFUND ME HOE..WE ARE THE GOFUND ME,” she wrote.
“Now you gone have to fear his mother”
In the second post, which was related to her son’s death, Dudley said she was ready to reply to those making fun of her son.
“LET ME MAKE THIS MF CLEAR.. SOMEBODY MOMMA GONE BE CRYING LIKE ME OBD… Y’ALL WANNA TROLL I’M GONE TROLL ALOT OF YOU BTCH A** N***S FEARED MY SON !!️!!️!!️!!️AND NOW YOU GONE HAVE TO FEAR HIS MOTHER !!️!!️!!️!!️,” she wrote.
At the end of the post, she said the person who always tried to convince her not to post anything on the internet is no longer here.
“HE NOT HERE TO TELL ME DON’T DO THIS SOCIAL MEDIA,” she wrote.
The ambush
As told by the police, six gunmen attacked the rapper on Saturday at 4 AM near a BP gas station at 4248 S. Wentworth Ave. According to the investigators, two people wearing masks came to the place of the crime in a black Infiniti, parked next to the victim, who was sitting in a white Tesla, and minutes later four people arrived in a silver Honda Accord. The woman riding in the victim’s car escaped.
Apart from Cooper’s car, buildings and other vehicles were damaged at the scene, including the windows of the nearby Subway restaurant. The number of shell casings found was more than 50; however, according to the witness, who spoke to the Sun-Times anonymously for security reasons, it was much higher.
“When I hopped out the car, the shots started almost immediately,” the witness said.
The investigation is being carried out by detectives from Area One. There is still no information on the possible suspects and motives.
A short career and a long shadow
Cooper was born on August 6, 2004. He uploaded his first songs in 2023 and gained wide recognition through tracks such as “Big 3,” “Coffin,” and his first single, “Splash Bros.”
Then he signed with Signal Records and released projects such as “Long Live My Brudda He Prolly Kilt Yo Brudda” in 2025 and “Get Back or Die Trying” on August 6, his 22nd birthday. In this nine-track album, there was also “Lemon Lime,” which is a posthumous collaboration between the rapper and his cousin Bloodhound Lil Jeff, born Jeffery Harris Jr., who was killed in Chicago in June 2024 at the age of 21.
Violence accompanied Cooper’s life all these years. His cousin, who rapped under the name of Bloodhound Zmoney, was killed in March 2023. Cooper himself was wounded in his leg in September of the same year in Chicago’s Irving Park neighborhood, and the gun found in his backpack led to his conviction for carrying weapons; he spent one year in jail. Another associate of Cooper, rapper Lil Scoom89, was also killed in the summer of 2024, and he survived the shooting in St. Louis in August 2025.
Speaking last month to vlogger DJ Akademiks, Cooper said he understood the risks of his position.
“I’m not chasing death, but I’m not running from it either,” he said. “I know what I signed up for.”
In the memories posted online Sunday, the rapper was mourned by the Rolling Loud festival, where Cooper performed in Orlando, Florida, and DJ Vlad, who interviewed the artist in 2025.
“Rest in peace Bloodhound Q50, who was shot and killed a few hours ago,” wrote DJ Vlad on X.
The rapper was unusually composed and well-prepared for the media interaction in comparison with his age, as he told DJ Vlad:
“He was the most media trained rapper I’ve ever spoken to at his young age,” DJ Vlad wrote.
