Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., responded with amusement Monday when a reporter asked about comments Vice President JD Vance made suggesting she could be the leading Democratic candidate for president in 2028.
Speaking during a sidewalk interview, the reporter asked Ocasio-Cortez: “JD Vance just said in an interview that he thinks you are going to be the leading Democratic candidate for president in 2028. What’s your response to that?”
“I mean, you know, I hope he is. That’s what I’ll say,” Ocasio-Cortez replied.
The reporter followed up, asking, “He’s a Republican nominee?”
“Yeah,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
