Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said she is “very deeply flattered and humbled” after being asked about a new poll indicating she is the top Democrat favored to win the party’s 2028 presidential nomination.
The congresswoman was approached in a video clip shot outside the Capitol by Pablo Manriquez of the Meidas Touch Network amid growing discussions about whether she will seek the presidency.
“I hate to ask you, but I got you,” Manriquez said. “There’s a big poll today showing that you are the favorite amongst Democrats in 2028. I know it’s a long way off. I know you’ve said before polls are, you know, a long way off or not.”
Ocasio-Cortez, who was wearing sunglasses and surrounded by her staff at the time, responded:
“Well, I feel very deeply flattered and humbled. And, you know, we, we, you know, I, I, I don’t want to kind of discount this, how supportive people have been. And it genuinely is very meaningful. And we also want to make sure that we’re making decisions that put the country first. And, and so I’m just, you know, thankful for the, thankful for the support. Thank you.”
