In honor of Abraham Lincoln’s 215th birthday, Apple TV+ is preparing to debut the highly anticipated real crime limited series “Manhunt.” Based on James L. Swanson’s best-selling novel, the seven-part drama takes viewers on a thrilling trip through one of history’s most iconic yet perplexing crimes: the hunt for John Wilkes Booth after Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.
The series, which will make its global debut on March 15, 2024, stars Emmy Award-winning actor Tobias Menzies, Anthony Boyle, Will Harrison, Lovie Simone, Patton Oswalt, and Hamish Linklater. Monica Beletsky, an award-winning showrunner and executive producer, is in charge of the production.
In a behind-the-scenes featurette, Beletsky and the talented actors discuss the idea behind adapting this gripping true-crime narrative for television. The show goes into the lesser-known parts of the Lincoln assassination, promising a compelling blend of conspiracy and historical drama.
The first two episodes of “Manhunt” will air on March 15, with weekly releases every Friday until April 19, 2024. The excitement is growing for a series aimed at shedding light on the complexity surrounding one of the most meaningful events in American history.
“Manhunt” is not only an example of Apple TV+’s dedication to excellent storytelling but also a cooperation between Apple Studios and Lionsgate Television. The series, which was co-produced by POV Entertainment, Walden Media, 3 Arts Entertainment, Dovetale Productions, and Monarch Pictures, is a creative collaboration.
Executive producers Monica Beletsky, Franklin, Layne Eskridge, and Kate Barry collaborate with James L. Swanson, the source material’s creator, to create a story that captivates audiences with its historical significance and cinematic flare. Michael Rotenberg, Richard Abate, Frank Smith, and Naia Cucukov’s presence strengthens the series’ chances of success.
