The Daily Mail, Channel Four and the brother of Princess Diana, Earl Spencer, alleged former BBC journalist Martin Bashir produced fake documents to win the trust of the late royal that led to the famous 1995 interview on her marriage to Prince Charles.

The TV graphic designer who was asked to create fake bank statements to help secure an interview with Diana, Princess of Wales has claimed he was made a “fall guy” by the BBC, reports Royal Correspondent Chris Ship.

BBC Director-General Tim Davie said “the BBC is taking this very seriously” adding “we are in the process of commissioning a robust and independent investigation.”
