An Ohio childcare employee was reportedly terminated after posting a video on social media that apparently expresses her relief that the president remained unharmed when someone opened fire on Saturday evening at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington.

Corrine Baum was employed at the BrightPath Bridgetown Child Care Center in Cincinnati. The company found out about the posting on Sunday and let her go.

Baum’s reaction to the shooting is captured in a roughly 20-second video clip. “There’s a few creators on here saying like Friday or yesterday could have been the day. And then I wake up to that news, but not THAT news,” she says. “We’re going to have to pay really close attention to what they’re actually trying to distract us from.”

Saturday’s incident has been described as an assassination attempt against the president.

According to authorities, Cole Tomas Allen, 31, tried to rush a security checkpoint at the dinner carrying a shotgun, a handgun, and knives. He exchanged shots with the officers before being arrested. President Trump, his wife, Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and various members of his cabinet attended the dinner. While one law enforcement officer sustained a gunshot wound, he did not suffer any serious injury.

Allen has been charged with various offenses under federal law, such as committing violence with a weapon and assaulting a federal agent.

BrightPath operates 12 preschools and daycare facilities across the Tri-State region. It calls itself an educational center for young children. No information was provided regarding what type of position Baum held at the Bridgetown facility.

BrightPath claims that it will not tolerate or approve of violence against anyone, and Baum’s statements violated their principles.
